XIAMEN, Jan. 15 (Xinhua) -- Police have arrested a suspected double-arsonist after a bus fire left 12 injured in east China's Fujian Province on Thursday.
Twelve people, including the suspect himself, were injured in a fire on a bus at 8 a.m. near the Caitang stop, according to the city bus company.
Most of the victims, aged between 22 and 70 years old, suffered burns and glass shrapnel wounds, no one sustained any life threatening injuries.
"I was about to alight when I saw smoke coming from the bus followed by flames," said Yan, a passenger.
Ju, another passenger, suffered 30 percent burns.
According to Wang, a witness, the suspected arsonist had a knife and attacked two people after police and firefighters had arrived at the scene.
Police have said they arrested Cai, 53. It is alleged that he also purposely set fire to a local food plant earlier the same day. The fire, which was discovered around 4 a.m. in the Tong'an Food Industry Zone, ripped through an area of 1,000 square meters and took three hours to put out. No casualties were reported.
Cai was dismissed from the plant for theft on Wednesday, according to one of the plant's managers.
The investigation continues.
