TOKYO, Feb. 23 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks closed 0.73 percent higher Monday as investor sentiment was lifted by the eurozone's agreement of an extension of financial aid to Greece.
The 225-issue Nikkei index was up 134.62 points, or 0.73 percent, from Friday at 18,466.92, the highest closing level since April, 2000.
The broader Topix index rose 2.50 points, or 0.17 percent, to 1, 502.83, its highest close since December 2007.
Major gainers included land transport, fishery and airline issues.
The turnover was 2,529.4 billion yen (about 21.27 billion U.S. dollars).
