PHNOM PENH, Feb. 26 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia and Laos pledged on Thursday to further enhance bilateral ties and cooperation for the benefits of the two countries and peoples, a Cambodian spokesman said.
The pledge was made during a meeting between Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen and visiting Laos President Choummaly Sayasone at the Peace Palace, Eang Sophalleth, a spokesman for Hun Sen, briefed reporters after the meeting.
"In the meeting, the prime minister told his excellency Choummaly Sayasone that he was very pleased to see the fruitful results of relations and cooperation between the two countries," he said.
"The prime minister also suggested that the two countries continue maintaining and further enhancing bilateral cooperation for mutual interests."
For his part, Choummaly said it was vital for the two neighbors to further strengthen ties and cooperation in all fields.
He also hailed Cambodia for its rapid socio-economic development in nearly a decade since his first visit to the country in 2007.
Choummaly arrived here Thursday morning for a two-day state visit at the invitation of Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni.
