SGX names Tan Boon Gin as new Chief Regulatory Officer

  SINGAPORE, Feb. 27 (Xinhua) -- Singapore Exchange (SGX) said on Friday that it will name Tan Boon Gin to take place Richard Teng, who is said to leave on Saturday as Chief Regulatory Officer from June 15 this year.

  During the interim, Yeo Lian Sim, special adviser to SGX and previously Chief Risk and Regulatory Officer, will be appointed as Chief Regulatory Officer from March 1 to June 14.

  Tan is currently Director of the Commercial Affairs Department. He was previously a Justices' Law Clerk at Singapore's Supreme Court and a Deputy Public Prosecutor at the Attorney-General's Chambers, where he specialized in corruption and white-collar crime, before leaving to practice at Messrs Sullivan &Cromwell in New York.

  He later served as a District Judge at Singapore's Subordinate Courts before being seconded to the Monetary Authority of Singapore, where he held appointments as Director of the Enforcement Division, Director of the Corporate Finance Division and Executive Director of the Investment Intermediaries Department.

I am confident Boon Gin will contribute to the success of SGX as a world-class market operator and regulator, " said Magnus Bocker, CEO of SGX.

  Bocker will also leave his position when his current contract ends on June 30.
