MADRID, Dec. 11 (Xinhua) -- Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy denied on Friday afternoon that the car-bomb which had exploded outside of the Spanish Embassy in the Afghan capital of Kabul was actually aimed at the Embassy.
Nine Afghan civilians and one Spanish policeman are reported to have been injured in the blast which formed part of an attack of a group of up to seven Taliban fighters, two of whom have been reported killed and one injured.
Original reports had cited the Spanish Embassy as the target but speaking at a political rally in Alicante (East Spain) Rajoy denied this, saying the attack had been directed at a guesthouse used by foreigners in the Embassy district in the Afghan capital.
He added that all of the workers at the Spanish Embassy "were well," adding the policeman's injuries "were not serious."
He also said he had spoken to party leaders Pedro Sanchez (PSOE), Pablo Iglesias (Podemos) and Inigo Urkulli (Basque Nationalist Party) and that he hoped to speak to others when he got the chance.
