LONDON, Dec. 11 (Xinhua) -- Marco Fu made a maximum break at the snooker Gibraltar Open on Friday during his last 64 match against Sam Baird.

Fu, from Hong Kong, China, made the break in the fifth frame to go 3-2 up and went on to make an 83 in the next to seal the match.

It's the fourth 147 of his career, making him the only player other than Ronnie O'Sullivan (13), Stephen Hendry (11), John Higgins (7), Ding Junhui (5) and Shaun Murphy (4) to make more than three official maximums.

Fu also made one at the Masters earlier this year.

The maximum break earned the world number 14 a bonus of 3,500 pounds, providing the 147 is not equalled during the tournament.

It's the 116th maximum in snooker history and second in five days following Neil Robertson's 147 in the UK Championship final.

Two-time ranking event winner Fu told world snooker's official website: "It's a great feeling to make a 147, and every snooker player's dream. I felt relaxed throughout the break, I had the white ball under control and I was never in much trouble. Hopefully I can win a few more matches in this tournament and qualify for the Players Championship."
